Sunday Morning Chamber Music presents – A Roald Dalhl Extravaganza

A Roald Dahl Extravaganza performed by the Northerly Winds Quintet. ‘Meet’ the instruments, enjoy the music, and gasp at readings from Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs, and Revolting Rhymes. The vibrancy and excitement generated by this live performance will be particularly special, combining the usual richness of a chamber music concert with a deliberate attempt to intrigue a young audience and hopefully inspire wonder and an appetite for more.
Revolting Rhymes – setting by Martin Butler
Little Red Riding Hood – setting by Paul Patterson
The Three Little pigs – setting by Paul Patterson
Flute: Emily Doan, Oboe: Emily Crichton, Horn: Michael Arnold, Bassoon: Jon Jones, Clarinet: Beth Nichol, Piano: Julian Davis, Narrator: Isolde Coope
The Northerly Winds ensemble is formed from some of the top freelance musicians in the North West, whose individual playing credits include, amongst others, the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Concert Orchestra, English National Ballet, London Concert Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Each member has studied at the UK’s top conservatoires, graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and have further orchestral training with Southbank Sinfonia and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. Their love for music, but especially chamber music has brought them together.
This concert is supported by The Chamber Music Trust.
